With less than 3 weeks to go, Oliver Roeder and I show why Omaha's vote matters in the US election Of 128 possible scenarios in 7 swing states (2^7), 4 paths have a difference of only 1 electoral college vote If Harris wins the blue wall + Trump the sunbelt, Nebraska 2 will be pivotal

Lots of post-mortems today & questioning of what Biden/Harris did wrong, but this is the key chart for me, from the brilliant John Burn-Murdoch. It's a uniquely terrible year for incumbents everywhere. ft.com/content/e8ac09…

My wish for the next election is that poll trackers look like the one on the right 👉 not the left This was yet another election where the polling showed it could easily go either way, but most of the charts just showed two nice clean lines, one leading and one trailing. Bad!

This is quite remarkable... Two decades ago, car ownership in China was a rarity and the country had minimal production capacity. Fast forward to today: China has become the world’s leading car producer and exporter New York Times nytimes.com/interactive/20…

As a chart (and data) lover, really enjoyed this fun game in the Financial Times. [Worked surprisingly well on the iPhone.] Got most of it directionally right, but the last one completely wrong... buff.ly/49NaPhh #dataisbeautiful

Progressives have been reluctant to discuss fertility. Keir Starmer said he wont even have a baby policy. But these two graphs brilliantly show you why an ageing population will screw us over. Left: financial costs Right: demographic predictions.
