We are so excited for #Botany2022! Three abstracts submitted from our lab! Can't wait to share our (very new) science and get to meet and chat with people at a big in-person conference!! (big plus for it being Alaska) brannan Reid Selby Daniel Jones

Endangered plant emergency 📢🆘: blushing Layia (Layia erubescens B.G. Baldwin), is a new species from California described on the brink of extinction due to degradation of coastal dune habitats. The ray corolla "blushes" in age from white to pink to rose.

Excited to see this out in print and open access online with American Genetic Association! Assembling a genome is hard, assembling a very large hexaploid plant genome is a Herculean task, but lead Renee Bellinger made it all look too easy. A genome for Bidens hawaiensis. academic.oup.com/jhered/article…

Been having some mental health struggles, so I barely registered this as a win, but our latest work on the Texas sunflowers 🌻 is out in Early View in Evolution Journal! And #openaccess onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

I’m *very* happy to see this paper w/Dr. Ashley Earley and Andries Temme accepted for publication in The Plant Journal. Click through to learn more than you ever wanted to know about the genetic basis of variation in leaf anatomy in sunflower! 🌻 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Wow, that was quick… Our work on the genetics of leaf anatomical variation in sunflower (w/grad student Dr. Ashley Earley and former postdoc Andries Temme) is already up on The Plant Journal’s website. 🌻🍃🧬 @UGAGradStudies UGA Research PlantCenterUGA onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111…

All the great development and #compositae talks last week have me itching to dive into some of the weird phenotypes we've seen!

thecapitulab is hiring! Looking for a Postdoc to work on this U.S. National Science Foundation funded project studying capitulum development Auburn University. The work involves really cool developmental transcriptomics of diverse species while diving deeper with functional genetics. Reach out with questions! 🌻
