Back in the days when chaps knew how to dress. The Loyal Islington Volunteers formed in Highbury in 1797. 300 strong, they used to trot up and down Holloway Road and charge around Highbury Fields on a regular basis. Probably.

Already planning for St Patrick's weekend. It's going to be a cracker (craic-er?).

Fresh on cask. A nice 3.4% extra pale ale from Signature Brew. Brewed for the first time in years. When originally brewed, it went on to become Roadie which you probably recognise as our regular keg session IPA.

Absolutely over the moon to be one of the 5 pubs shortlisted for CAMRANorthLondon pub of the year 2025. Quite an accolade given that the area covered includes most of the N and NW post code area plus WC1. We are very chuffed.

Busy day today for us. Arsenal play this afternoon and then we'll be neatly segueing into this. DJ sets from The Studio 68! (expect a Jam tune or 2) and the legendary Tara Milton from 90s North London band Five Thirty.

⁦Villages Brewery⁩ launch two new beers at The Lamb on Saturday - a sour and a strong IPA. We thought we’d go the whole hog and let them have all 6 of our rotation lines. It’s a nice range of beer styles, so something for everyone!

All the way from Deptford. Nice line up of beer styles from Villages Brewery tonight. First pours for 2 brand new beers - Fuzzbox (4.2% Mango & Passionfruit sour) and Astral Maze (6.2% New England IPA). Also on are a stout, a dunkel, a 3% table beer and a 4.6% pale ale.

As part of the St Patrick's Day celebrations we have brought over a pallet ( a PALLET!) of Irish indie beer from breweries in both the Republic and the North. We'll be turning over our 6 rotating lines to this and have got so much in that it will likely be Irish Beer Fortnight

It’s bottoming out day at The Lamb. Our lines are far from neglected since we line clean every week, but this is our annual deep clean. It’s strong stuff and we will probably spend the rest of the afternoon rinsing through with water afterwards.

They've played at the pub twice in the last few months - both times were splendid. Table banging, foot stomping, folk & rolling brilliance. Saturday night of St Pats weekend! In addition we will have a full line up of Irish indie beers on the rotating lines to wash it all down.

This much loved bodhran was stolen from the pub last night. If you woke up with a blue drum this morning after a drunken night, do the right thing & bring it back. You don’t know the hurt you’ve caused. If it was your friend persuade them to do the right thing. Please share.

Delivery day so I am on my way in, but stopping off at the brilliant Wagon cafe in Drayton Park for a fortifying N5 breakfast with an extra sausage en route. For reference - bubble is the only acceptable format for potato on a full English breakfast.

Due to staff illness we are opening a little later today - at 5pm. Normal service after that though with the Sunday Irish Session at 8.30 -that has been especially brilliant latterly.

A collab between two of our favourite breweries- ⁦The Five Points⁩ and ⁦Howling Hops⁩. A tasty 4.8% Extra Special Bitter. Fresh on today.

Paid a visit to the smashing Antwerp Arms in N17 this week. Community owned but run by our friends at Redemption Brewing Co.. Very engaged with the community thereabouts & well used by it. Had been sold by the Stonegate pub co. to a property developer, so splendid that it's still a pub.

We’ve had a fair few trans people in the pub over the years, including Charlie who has a plaque on the wall outside. In that time, as far as I know, nobody has been bothered about what toilets they have used. Hopefully this will continue.

We are opening a tad later today due to some filming happening in the pub. We should be open by 6.30, with the usual Sunday session starting two hours later.
