We’ve always found it challenging to describe what Gnosis is – since we were and are doing so many different things. I still think they all have connecting elements. How would you describe Gnosis in a simple sentence or even just a couple of words?

Argot (/aʁ.ɡo/, say “ahr-GOH”) is a major step toward an optimally resilient social layer for Ethereum. As a Swiss association and democratic collective, the EF spin-out Argot Collective hedges against other institutions across Ethereum, their legal entities and governance frameworks.

Is now a good time to share that I joined Argot Collective last month? I‘ll be working with ecosystem partners and supporters to help Argot sustain and grow the tools Ethereum relies on. If you‘re in public goods funding, I want to hear from you! Excited for what’s ahead!

💡 Blue-sky exploratory research is crucial. As industry teams move toward applied R&D, there’s a growing need for academia and think tanks to fill the long-term innovation gap on Ethereum. This is where the next big breakthroughs can come from.

🌐 Governance of digital public infrastructure is an open frontier. There’s a striking lack of attention on how we govern digital public goods. Research here must begin from the grassroots starting with how we define the stakeholder set, and the social layer.

🏛️ To attract the best minds, research orgs need to emulate academia’s strengths. People with deep domain understanding need freedom to explore + financial security. “Tenures” and “endowments” for ecosystem researchers can make a big difference.
