In data from 11 ERs, adolescents (12-17 yrs) presenting w/ problems related to opioid use disorder increased 2800% from 2014-2022, w/ high 6 month ER revisit rates. Despite this, only 4% received prescription for buprenorphine, & only 29% received naloxone sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Our latest work in JAMA Pediatrics Youth with fatal drug overdose are more likely to have never had a prior non-fatal overdose, use alone, and have no prior history of opioid misuse. Naloxone IS part of the solution...but other steps are needed. Florence Bourgeois Scott Hadland, MD
