This is from the LA City Controller. They absolutely cut services from all these departments (including Fire) to give money to the Police.

This thread is a great example of how much our info hygiene has deteriorated. I too have wondered what happened to these folks trapped in a house in the middle of the #PalisadesFire. Multiple commenters on this post declare they were rescued, with absolutely no actual sourcing.

Btw the money that they keep saying is being held for LAFD's raises are in this "separate account" HASN'T even been transferred to the LAFD's operating budget as of this date! How do we know all this? Because we're the City's Accountant! We know the City's budget and finances.

BTW, what's not being talked about is that Chief Crowley requested $914,975,620 for this current fiscal year's budget which started last July. INSTEAD, the Fire Department got $819,637,423, a budget cut of $17,553,814 from their prior year's adopted budget of $837,191,237.

After we're through these disastrous fires, we will hold a whole day's worth of our usual educational sessions where we educate people about the City's budget and finances. That's what we're known for. We will make sure to invite all these City officials too.
