Today at #CND67 I presented #INCB’s 2023 Annual Report, #Precursors Report & technical publications on narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances. I also gave an update on #availability of controlled medicines & challenges in the review of chemicals for possible scheduling. #SDG3

1/2: #CND67 has voted in favor of including 2 groups of ATS #precursors and 2 fentanyl precursors in Table I of the 1988 Convention, 18 chemicals in total.  For the first time, two series of closely related chemicals will be placed under international control. UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs

2/2: This vote will contribute to addressing the current synthetic drugs problem, including #fentanyl, by preventing illicit drug manufacturers from circumventing controls by replacing controlled chemicals with closely related substitutes.  UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The year of elections continues to produce some interesting results.

Sharing key findings, INCB's Pavadia Jagjit said, "Criminal groups are exploiting legitimate e-commerce and other online platforms for the trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, precursor chemicals and new psychoactive substances."

I spent considerable time working on this. Hopefully the compendium of national control measures will be a helpful tool to governments around the🌍to share their national legislation / domestic controls in order to support multilateral efforts to address illicit drug manufacture.
