Thanks Dr Kate Weeks ACvA Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology for the invite & support - looking forward to the session!

1/6 Thrilled to share the first project from my PhD in the The Arany lab out today in @ScienceMag, co-led by Cholsoon Jang (while @ Rabinowitz Lab) and w/ Dr. David Frankel and Dr. Matthew Hyman of the EP section Penn Medicine. #cardiotwitter science.sciencemag.org/content/370/65…

Yes - he wrote to me and sent me this article a few weeks ago too! He really did discover the shuttle 60 yrs ago. I sent him the recent NAD transport papers from @nora_kory David M. Sabatini Baur Lab Lulu Cambronne. He seemed happy to see this is a major area of research in 2020.

Attention all #mitochondriacs Check out our latest work in Scientific Reports where we describe a method for quantifying mitochondrial content and intrinsic OXPHOS efficiency using mass spectrometry, respirometry and fluorescence nature.com/articles/s4159…. See 👇 for details. 1/

Excited to finally share my postdoctoral work and latest manuscript from the @EricVerdin Lab and Buck Institute exploring how senescent cells promote tissue #NAD decline during ageing via the activation of CD38+ macrophages. nature.com/articles/s4225…

D-day alert: Nature Cardiovascular Research site is now live! nature.com/natcardiovascr… To all my followers who have cardiovascular and blood biology @❤️ and 'in their veins', please follow us Nature Cardiovascular Research We're open for submissions in mid-April!

We had a blast writing this mini-review on the recent discovery of the mito-NAD transporter in mammalian cells, & what it could mean for the broader field of NAD biology. We are excited to share the first paper from our lab Nature Metabolism. We discovered that mitochondrial NADP+ is essential to enable proline synthesis and reveal the first example of mammalian proline auxotrophy nature.com/articles/s4225…. 1/12

Excited to share our recent work spearheaded by Anna Garcia Whitlock, MD, PhD that show an important role for hepatic FOXO transcription factors in driving stress-induced hyperglycemia and insulin resistance in mouse models of trauma PennSurgery Penn IDOM Molecular Metabolism sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

In the failing heart, short chain fatty acids (SCFA) are more readily oxidized than ketones & represent an unexplored source of energy production. Read more: ow.ly/moXN50EEwPH #AHAJournals Doug Lewandowski
