Anyone registered for SFN, check out my poster (P483.09) on the circuits that assign borders to visual objects. Evidence for a columnar organization with a special role for deep layer neurons and an unexpected relation with border orientation! #SfN21 John Reynolds Salk Institute

Glad to share our latest work. We find that the assignment of borders to visual objects is organized in columns in the brain's cortex in which it occurs first in deep layers, suggestive of a central role for feedback. Salk Institute John Reynolds doi.org/10.7554/eLife.… eLife - the journal

Excited to continue my scientific journey at the Washington University in St. Louis! @WUSTLneurosci Opening this September, our lab will study how brain circuits organize incoming sensory information into meaningful collections of objects and background. sites.wustl.edu/frankenlab/

The Yao lab (2 months old now!) is recruiting at all levels! We study auditory decision-making and links between sensory deficits with cognitive dysfunction. I’ll be presenting at APAN Friday and #SfN22 on Saturday (Poster 051.25 M3) 1-5pm. Come swing by and say hi!

How does the brain keep track of objects in the world when environments change or we move our eyes? Come see our presentation #SfN2022 to learn about our new data on persistent object signals in primate visual cortex (513.05, Tue Nov 15, 2:00 PM, SDCC 5)!
