A reminder that sharing public spaces builds communities, and that streets shouldn't just be for cars. theguardian.com/environment/vi…

My grandparents used to decide how many newspapers to buy depending on the football results: two if Spurs had won, one if they'd drawn, none if they'd lost. Today I'll be listening to all of the politics podcasts. #SomertonAndFrome

Many UK athetes who have qualified for the World Championships won't be able to because UKA will decline their invitations on their behalf because they aren't expected to make the top 8. Shameful mismanagement of the sport. Let them compete. theguardian.com/sport/2023/jul…

.Ross Tucker Have appreciated your insights into the issues around inclusion of DSD and trans women in sport over the past few years. Would be interested to hear your take on FIDE's decision to exclude trans women from women's chess tournaments. Any space on a coming podcast?

On our way back from the British Schools Orienteering Score Champs, where @WestwaysPrimary won 1st Primary School Girls team. Muddy fun, with a good haul of sweets for prizes, most of which aren't going to make it home.

Probably a good thing that the Tories can't even parachute in Farage as a new leader for the next election, as for that they'd need a seat safe enough they could hold it in a byelection. #MidBedsByelection #TamworthByelection

Because all the OC contestants are so lovely, I often find it difficult to know who to root for. Next series, it would be helpful if it featured teams like The Queue-Jumpers, The PE Teachers, The Cold-Callers, The Closet Racists, etc. to provide more clarity.

The Tory tiered citizenship program: Higher income? Congratulations, you qualify for the Citizenship Prime Family Plan, with extra basic human rights. Low income, 3rd child? Sorry, our Semi-Citizenship Basics Plan only covers food, clothes, and shelter for up to two siblings.

Often hear commentators refer to female athletes as "the wife of {male athlete}". So refreshing today to hear one of the leading men in Montane Spine Race referred to as "the husband of Jasmin Paris". Obviously we should remember he's a proper athlete in his own right, but still...

If Hunt wants to play games with a Budget rabbit, he should forget about NICS and Inheritance Tax and instead announce £28bn for the Green transition. #Budget2024

I remember when I first saw the boundary review feeling sad that Tim Farron had been stitched up and faced a tough challenge to hold his seat. Congratulations, Tim, on your 21472 majority!

Did I really just hear Jon Sopel use the phrase "anonymous names" in introducing The News Agents podcast? Expect better from the wordsmith behind Strangeland.

.The News Agents How likely is it that the next Tory leader will last until the next election? Are the Tories still capable of sticking with one leader for five years, particularly without having the task of running the country to distract them from plotting against each other?
