On my way to a conference in Plano with my husband. He is a Full Professor of Theology with something like 5 books and another on the way and he would make more $ if he were an assistant manager at Buc-ees!

Coming back to Houston to see mom in assisted living can be hard. How fitting to find The Examined Life Journal with the poem I wrote during mom’s 2021 hospitalization.

Stopped by 6th Street Distillery in Giddings on the way back to Austin last night. Pleasant experience. There is something about drinking at a distillery that I prefer to a regular bar.

So apparently Italian scientists, at least this one, read their Dante. Frankly, that little diagram on page 41 is what convinced me to purchase this delightfully interesting little book.

Preparing for a reading at UST today, and I'm reminded why I have a deep preference for sentence case in poetry. In order to ensure I read the enjambed lines correctly, I have to make notes. I know these are fighting words for some ;) James Matthew Wilson

Third time is the charm. I finally have a poem present in Presence: A Journal of Catholic Poetry! This is poem is from a series of five (thus far) curtal sonnets created in response to quotes from Augustine's Confessions. A project I started during the UST MFA program.

How many groupings of three can you find in this church by one of Gaudi’s disciples? Since the mass was in Spanish, I spent the mass locating trinities.

I am hoping my husband will write an article on this, but "cancel culture" is nothing new as evidenced by this 1st century funerary altar. Someone was so angry at whoever this was that they chiseled their name off of it to erase that person from memory!
