Here are three reasons to think about only learning parts of a piece (at least initially). tommyspianocorner.com/should-we-ever…

Looking to pic the brains of those used to playing piano with virtual orchestras (classical repertoire). How do you best ‘synchronise’ the solo piano - especially where there is a break in the orchestral part?

Like many amateur pianists, I’m always trying to make my piano practice more effective. It occurred to me that we can think of the learning process as coming in 3 stages. However, as always, it’s best not to take too li ear a view| tommyspianocorner.com/the-three-stag…

Who has watched the video on Yuja Wang’s heart rate during her Rach Marathon. Certainly makes it look like playing piano is a great cardiovascular workout. youtu.be/SuA9l77ODbs?si…

A1C at 4.8 this morning. 12 years ago it was 11.8. My approach has always been low carb plus metformin. My Endo quickly took me off other drugs he initially prescribed as my change in diet was pushing my glucose to levels where drugs might cause a hypo. Sustained 12 years!

I wonder if Steve Jobs had any idea of the revolution in human behavior of which the iPhone 3G would be the spark? On a train tonight, not in a developed, industrialized country but in Asia and there is absolutely nobody without a smartphone in their hands!

I’ve seen many commentators say that humans can’t possibly be carnivorous as we don’t have pointy teeth. I’m watching a docu on the tv with a panda who has a set of pointy teeth your average lion would be jealous of. Flawed line of argument?

Have you noticed how much some pianists move around on the bench when they play? Perhaps it is something of which we should all do more? Some thoughts. tommyspianocorner.com/pianists-move-…

Watching ‘Allo ‘Allo for the first time in years. Would it even be allowed now? Classic comedy about a painful period in history where absolutely everyone comes across as a total idiot!

I remember years ago working with people proposing what they called the f*ckwit theory. If, within a matter of minutes, someone didn’t question what we knew was a flawed logic, then they were clearly a f*ckwit! Perhaps everyone should take this test on pretty much all they read!!

Watching more âllo âllo. Tiny detail - visible on screen for a matter of seconds. A wine barrel with ‘Chateau Sans Jambes’ which translate nicely to Legless Chateau. Maybe less than 5% of Brits would know what it means. Visible for only seconds. What amazing attention to detail
