One of the most poignant moments of my life was when my mom, who’d struggled mightily to accept me as trans—held my hand and introduced me as her son to her hospice nurses.

She died two weeks later. We never spoke of it and I never got to tell her how much her acceptance meant to me. I like to believe that somehow, somewhere, she knows. ❤️❤️❤️
