I asked for s.o to read the 10 yr plan and tell me what to think. Lots of helpful comments and discussion - but I have to single out Louella Vaughan whose searing scrutiny has confirmed for me that this is a document written by people who haven’t the foggiest idea about h/c 🙏

Not only is the Leng review likely to disappoint, a large part of the 10 year plan is based on the widening and deepening of the same dodgy unproven principles. Who is driving this and why, what analysis has been done, where elsewhere is this working, what if it fails?

Chris Thomas My word, you do like to promote yourself, don’t you? If I were you, I wouldn’t be too quick to claim ownership of a document which does not bear your name, and for which the SoS and PM will carry the can when it goes tits-up

David Oliver (also on Blue Sky) Where are the provisions for our biggest demographic, the frail older people who need actual hands on care? AI isn't going to help them. Of course I agree that a Hospital stay isn't the answer for many of our patients, I just don't see an actual alternative

It's now 21 months since late evening BBC Local Radio Listeners in the NW, lost three much loved presenters, Beswick, Linda Mac and Gilly. The special connectivity they had with their audiences cast aside and replaced by National Shows with no clear identity. Very sad.

Chair of National Pharmacy Association not setting a great example and likely not indemnified for this Foreign bodies in the ear under Pharmacy First guidance should be referred to the GP or could be seen in Urgent Care or by an ENT surgeon …sadly this “have a go” mentality is endorsed in the 10

Exactly right, Prof. I'm concerned there seems to be little recognition of that vital need for flexibility in what I've read of 'the plan' so far. One size definitely doesn't fit all !

trevor rhodes I agree Trevor. A ‘digital-first’ model can exclude some patients. The NHS must keep multiple channels (such as phone, paper letters and face-to-face) available so that appointments and important reminders aren’t missed to keep care equitable.

It was 40 years ago in July 1985 that I received the medical degree that launched my career. I am very grateful to the colleagues, mentors, students and above all to the patients who have shaped every step since. Medicine has changed in ways I could scarcely imagine in 1985.

Patients want to see GPs . Patients want the continuity of a family GP. How many studies will it take for Wes Streeting to understand what we already know is best for patients ? independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…

When you book a GP appointment, you expect to see a GP. But that’s becoming a luxury. More and more patients are being seen by anyone but a doctor. Meanwhile, qualified GPs are out of work because there aren’t enough jobs for them. That’s not by accident. It’s by design. Yes,

Not entirely convinced that the Nobel Peace Prize committee will be swayed by a nomination from someone who would currently be unable to visit Oslo because of war crime indictment … hard to work out what Trump meant by “this means a lot coming from you …”
