SPINES program at the MBL 🧠 Alums who are planning to attend our Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) #SPINESAlum23 event this weekend look out for an email from Sabrina Zequeira and @jnbrutman this week to add to our playlist. ALTERNATIVELY, we can just listen to the Jonas Brothers all night. Tuna Ortiz

Stop by poster HH25 on Saturday 6:30pm-8:30pm, and VV32 next Tuesday 8:00am-12pm to learn about some pretty cool GABA neurons in the hippocampus! @WiliamsLabUtah #SfN23

I would like to thank @jnbrutman, Sabrina Zequeira, Tuna Ortiz, and Bill for helping to make the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) SPINES program at the MBL 🧠 #SPINESAlum23 reunion a success at Busboys and Poets. We spent 4 months planning and it turned out great in the end! (More pics to come, don’t worry)

My first paper in WilliamsLabUtah We showed how diverse the Kirrel3 gene is in its transcript reservoir. We utilized long-read sequencing to discover new isoforms! Potential new functions?

🥳Excited to share our new paper in its final form: rdcu.be/dI6Ci. If your research would benefit from intersectional tools (a way to target cells based on multiple features), then ConVERGD might be of interest. Doesn't need to be 🧠-related!

Revolutionary Tool Unveils Hidden Brain Cell Functions Researchers have created ConVERGD, a groundbreaking tool for precisely manipulating specific cell subpopulations, advancing studies of cellular diversity. The tool was used to identify a norepinephrine neuron subpopulation

What is neuroinflammation, and will we be able to learn to control it one day? The image below shows a neuron being attacked (or helped?) by glial cells. Markers: neuron/pTau-blue, microglia/iba1-gold, astrocytes/gfap-purple. What kind of help makes things worse? #neuroscience

Human cortical pyramidal neurons are larger, exhibit more complex branching patterns, and feature distinctly nonlinear biophysical properties compared to rat cortical pyramidal neurons. Do these unique characteristics make human neurons more functionally complex? Would that
