Rohan Brill GRDC The mesocotyl of oats (wild oats in the pic below) pushes the crown and sec roots towards the surface. Wheat & barley don't. Much harder to keep herbicide away from important parts of the seedling. Excellent knife point set up is even more critical in oats.
