The amount of HS players selected in the MLB draft has been interesting. I have to imagine a big reason is that the teams can get these kids below slot and save money across the board for later rounds.

Other factor is that incoming freshman generally aren’t playing at larger programs in D1 (there are exceptions 😉) and they may see this as a business decision. See Georgia…not one of their freshman from last year remain, all in the portal (highly recruited guys).
