Todo lists, docs, email style – if you've got individual or team knowledge you want ChatGPT/Claude to have access to, Knoll (knollapp.com) is a personal RAG store from Stanford University that you can add any knowledge into. Instead of copy-pasting into your prompt every time,

Photoshop for text. In our #CHI2025 paper “Textoshop”, we explore how interactions inspired by drawing software can help edit text. We consider words as pixels, sentences as regions, and tones as colours. #HCI #NLProc #LLMs #AI Thread 🧵 (1/10)

Check out our latest work on steerable alignment! We improve on a typical in-context learning approach with semantic retrieval by proposing metrics that instead select examples that best exemplify a group's shared values, enabling inference-time alignment to a particular group ➡️

Excited to share our #chi2025 paper "Proactive Agents with Inner Thoughts"! We introduce a new way to build proactive AI agents, that don't just wait to be prompted, but think alongside the conversation and decide if, when, and how to speak based on their own inner thoughts 💬🧠

Now that we got a Best Paper award at #CHI2025 🏆, I have to tweet about this! We studied how 39 software professionals - designers, PMs, and engineers - prototype GenAI applications. (I had fun co-conspiring with Divy Divy Thakkar on this paper.) Paper: arxiv.org/abs/2402.17721 1/n

#CHI2025 paper on human–AI alignment! 🧵 Models can learn the right concepts but still be wrong in how they relate them. ✨Abstraction Alignment✨evaluates whether models learn human-aligned conceptual relationships. It reveals misalignments in LLMs💬 and medical datasets🏥.

I've been quiet for a while on the social media front -- it's been a very busy two years with an international move and setting up a new lab at KAIST, but I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of my students' fantastic new work in the domain of online safety.

AI agents are entering online social spaces, but often their messages feel generic or intrusive. In our #CHI25 paper, we introduce Social-RAG, a workflow that grounds AI generations in the specific group context by retrieving from the group’s interaction history. 🧵(1/9)
