Cameras roll for Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies as he spoke of Government links and partnership agreements at the St David’s Day reception he co-hosted with the Secretary of State for Wales, Jo Stevens.


At the St. David's Day reception in Welsh Parliament our Executive Director David Chapman met with Welsh MPs, Claire Hughes MP (Bangor Aberconwy), Becky Gittins MP (Clwyd East), Alex Barros-Curtis MP (Cardiff West) and Henry Tufnell MP (Mid & South Pembrokeshire).

Today we were in UK Parliament for our Wales Week / London Food and Drink showcase! It was amazing to meet with so many MPs and even some MSs to try food and drink from around Wales. Our Executive Director, David Chapman, sums up the event 👇

“As we celebrate all things Welsh this week, let’s continue to champion Welsh food and drink.” Minister for Wales, Nia Griffith MP addressed the food and drink showcase today in Parliament - part of Wales Week / London.


Chair of the APPG for ‘Hospitality, Events and Major Food and Drink Businesses in Wales’, Llinos Medi AS/MP MP addressed the Welsh food and drink showcase today. She stressed the importance of the hospitality sector across Wales in rural and urban communities.


Our Executive Director, David Chapman, spoke on behalf of Food 7 Cymru at the Plaid Cymru 🏴 Spring conference business reception. He emphasised the need for greater gov't support for the food, drink and accommodation sector and elevation of the sector in the economy portfolio.


It was great to meet with Plaid Cymru 🏴 leader Rhun ap Iorwerth at the Plaid Cymru conference business reception. We discussed the need for business rates reform and how it was vital the 2025 Senedd party manifesto recognised support needed for the hospitality industry.

Today we're attending the Wales Tourism Summit in Llandudno. Rebecca Evans MS, Cabinet Secretary for Economy Energy and Planning, opened the summit with latest Welsh Government data showing the Visitor Economy is responsible for 5.1 % of Wales’ GVA.


The decision by the Welsh Government to only partially exempt under-18s from its Visitor Levy will still see the levy hit low-income families. The Welsh Government need to go one step further and implement a total exemption for under-18s. ukhospitality.org.uk/family-holiday…


Today our Executive Director, David Chapman, met with Chair of the APPG for Hospitality in Wales, Llinos Medi AS/MP. They discussed the work plan for the group to celebrate Welsh food festivals, aim for greater inbound visitor numbers and delivering sustainable tourism.


It was great attend the Carmarthen Food Festival in the UK House of Commons today and sample some amazing offerings from across Carmarthen. Hospitality venues in Carmarthen (Caerfyrddin) contributes £95 million to the UK economy across 788 establishments employing 4,253 people.


This week is #WalesTourismWeek and last night our Executive Director, David Chapman, attended a reception in Welsh Parliament. It was great to hear from Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning Rebecca Evans MS and meet with so many MS's alongside Wales Tourism Alliance.


The Welsh Government's business rates reform proposals will increase bills for hospitality businesses, risking job losses and business failure. There needs to be wholesale revision of the proposals to ensure hospitality will benefit from reform. ukhospitality.org.uk/business-rates…
