Just 6 Days to #WorldRefugeeDay A day to stand with the 3.7 million forcibly displaced people in Nigeria. To celebrate their strengths, not just their struggles.

Yelwata, Guma LGA was attacked last night and over 100 families fled to Makurdi needing urgent assistance. @UNHCRNigeria provided basic items such as blankets, sleeping mats and water containers and will begin assessment and registration of households today.

This #WorldRefugeeDay, we’re not just showing support, we’re doing the work. From documentation in Lagos to legal services in Borno, @UNHCRNigeria & partners respond where there is need. Solidarity means action.

In the Niger floods last week, @UNHCRNigeria reached over 1,000 of the most vulnerable families with emergency kits, helping them stay warm, have light and remain safe. This is what #WorldRefugeeDay is about. No matter where, no matter when, we stay and deliver.

Overnight 273 people arrived at Ichwa IDP Camp leaving their homes in Yelwata, Benue due to safety concerns, sleeping in the camp's school. UNHCR Nigeria and partners are offering them basic items, blankets, mats, solar lamps etc and will asses for other needs.

Daily chores continue at the international market, Markudi for over 1,000 people displaced by the recent herder/farmer conflict. @UnhcrNigeria Representative 𝚊𝚛𝚓𝚞𝚗 visited communities & talked with partner organisations about possible peaceful solutions.

This time last week, UNHCR Nigeria celebrated the World Refugee Day 2025 with forcibly displaced people in Nigeria. Children in Adagom Settlement joined the festivities showing talent and creativity.

Did You Know? 57% of forcibly displaced people in Nigeria are children under the age of 18. @UNHCRNigeria supports them through a range of services, including child protection, psychosocial support and access to education.

Many - including children - said that their whole families were brutally killed in the attacks in #Yelewata #Benue 🇳🇬 They fled with just the clothes on their backs. @UNHCRNigeria was there that night to help them. They want to return home when it’s safe. UNHCR will be there.
