Overnight 273 people arrived at Ichwa IDP Camp leaving their homes in Yelwata, Benue due to safety concerns, sleeping in the camp's school. UNHCR Nigeria and partners are offering them basic items, blankets, mats, solar lamps etc and will asses for other needs.

@UNHCRNigeria joined Refugees, Migrants & IDPs Commission, Ecowas - Cedeao, refugees and partners in a road walk to mark #WorldRefugeeDay in Abuja. Together, we raised awareness and reinforced our commitment to supporting displaced communities in Nigeria.




#WorldRefugeeDay: 12.7M displaced across West & Central Africa. Regional Director Abdouraouf Gnon-Kond applauds the solidarity of host communities, governments, NGOs, and partners.

local communities from the Northeast to South-South, from Abuja to Lagos came together with government ministries, UNHCR Nigeria, sister agencies and partners to commemorate WRD 2025. It was quite a day!


UNHCR signed a bilateral collaborative framework MOU with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and 3 tripartite MOUs with the Ministry and the Borno State Govt for the implementation of sustainable projects based on vocational training centers and an irrigation project in Gwoza and Bama LGAs.


A future welder, plumber, tailor, shoemaker and baker are among men waiting to enroll on courses at the new Vocational Training Centre, Banki, led by Borno State's Ministry Of Higher Education, Sci &Tech Borno in partnership with @UNHCRNigeria.

Daily chores continue at the international market, Markudi for over 1,000 people displaced by the recent herder/farmer conflict. @UnhcrNigeria Representative ๐๐๐๐๐ visited communities & talked with partner organisations about possible peaceful solutions.


This time last week, UNHCR Nigeria celebrated the World Refugee Day 2025 with forcibly displaced people in Nigeria. Children in Adagom Settlement joined the festivities showing talent and creativity.
