I am in Port Sudan with ⁦UN Women⁩ and the women organizations at the forefront of the response to the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Two years of war in #Sudan left 15 million women and girls depending on foreign aid, while suffering hunger and sexual violence.

During a visit to HAC Commissioner-General Ms. Salwa Adam Binia, reintegration, recovery & resilience of displaced women in newly liberated areas of #Sudan was highlighted. She urged UN Women to support women's livelihoods & medium-scale agriculture to drive recovery efforts.

Supporting women in #Sudan must be at the heart of the humanitarian response. Women-led organizations do just that, but receive less than 2% of humanitarian aid. UN Women is in Sudan, staying and delivering with women-led organizations for women and girls. #KeepEyesOnSudan

Today in Port Sudan, I was pleased to meet USG SRSG Ms. Patten on conflict related sexual violence. We discussed UN joint support to the women of Sudan who continue to bear the brunt of this conflict on many fronts.

The women showed their appreciation to Sida for their support through UN Women Sudan by naming one of their adorable baby goats SIDA! 🐐💛
