3 / 5 of these faculty are scientists. This right-wing movement is generally anti-intellectual, and us in STEM can't pretend like it won't come for us

Yep. Every aspect of my lab (started in 2019) & my teaching has been shaped by Covid. Not all bad, but certainly different. Doesn’t feel like there’s much discussion anymore re: student delays, paper delays, etc. Not only is *covid* not over, but the impacts will last for years

"(For that matter, imagine the manicured neatness of suburbia blooming with wildlife gardens in place of ecologically impoverished, pesticide-soaked lawns.)" I imagine this scenario every day!

We’re looking for a graduate student interested in understanding urban heat islands (and how to mitigate them). Great position for someone who is excited about: spatial data, industry partnerships, big collaborative teams (French-speaking preferred). Co-advised paqlab_uqam & us!

We are in a time of unprecedented ecological crisis. Animals large and small are declining everywhere. It is time to make small sacrifices to help the natural world survive and thrive. If you're lucky enough to own some garden space, here's a thread on things you can do help...
