This paper in TE (Yannai A. Gonczarowski Scott Kominers Ran Shorrer) is bonkers (and should be in AER!). An econ model says "X is true if conditions Y are satisfied". We often restrict to a finite setting b/c infinite proofs too hard. Turns out you can often scale finite proofs very easily 1/3

While I very much enjoyed APSA in Montreal, it was a horrific conference for international scholars. There were so many cancelled/delayed visas that entire panels were empty. I'm concerned about collective amnesia with APSA going to Vancouver next year. #apsa2024 #apsa2025

Here’s a challenge for you. If Y,X_1,…,X_n are IID uniform on (0,1) then (X_1…X_n)^{1-Y^{1/(n-1)}} is also uniform on (0,1) !

Yes. That is like saying some language or system is Turing complete and can compute almost anything. True, but that is setting a pretty low bar... PowerPoint is turing complete: reddit.com/r/compsci/comm…

Looking to hire a talented and dedicated econometrician? I highly recommend Nadja van 't Hoff. We collaborated with Arthur Lewbel on "LiM and the CC-LATE", now R&R at The Review of Economics and Statistics (REStat). In her JMP, Nadja develops novel identification results for settings with non-binary, ordered treatments.
