1/ I need to share how bleak Primary Care is. I’m a partner in my surgery and last summer, the CQC rated us as Inadequate and placed us into special measures. #PrimaryCareCrisis ... General Practice

Grateful to Sarika Nalagatla and our wonderful exec team and committee BSoT Bushra Abdelqader Bushra Abdelqader Tony Tien for helping us run this important survey influencing the National Urology curriculum. SIM isn't optional, it's mandatory for CCT - please do speak to your TPDs!

This is absolutely brilliant from Resident Doctors Committee Chair, Dr Robert Laurenson Simple facts Calmly presented Professionally delivered Everybody wants to see a fair deal for our colleagues This cannot continue after next week’s election You have the support of GPs 🩺🧡

How many ST3 Urology trainees can expect to be on the console in a robotic case day 3 of their job? Perhaps our training and exposure this side of the pond needs an overhaul...

Immediately, in the quiet side room, I observed a process I had never before encountered. An intoxicating mix of compassion, thoughtfulness, inquisitivity, patience, & deep, deep understanding. He seemed to KNOW her immediately, reading her effortlessly. They had never met before.

Wow. This beggars belief. GMC says that PAs study Medicine. Forget the 5 years of study, the (rightly) rigorous standards, the postgrad training, all the slog & complexity. Just a 2-year course with a 100% pass rate. What a disgusting erosion of professional standards.

People living poorer areas have complex health needs, multiple comorbidities & disadvantaged social circumstances. Yet they are more likely to be registered with general practices using physician associates. Our new article in The BMJ Dr Mohammad Sharif Razai bmj.com/content/386/bm…

🧵/ This is, I believe, unprecedented in the history of UK medicine. 28 eminent UK doctors have written publicly to Layla Moran 🔶🕊️, the new chair of Health and Social Care Committee, to report something nothing less than scandalous. Read their letter here (1/n) 👇 bmj.com/content/386/bm…

The argument that “we need PAs due to a GP shortage” is a lie. The “NHS GP shortage” is deliberate & entirely manufactured 15036 doctors applied for 4096 GP training posts **10,940 doctors** were unsuccessful We have the doctors! NHSE are ensuring there are NO jobs for them!

Training logbook numbers by specialty relative to 2019. Millions fewer procedures performed with/by a trainee. Consultants - remember that you were all trainees once. Time to train the next generation! Every case is a training case. #NoTrainingTodayNoSurgeonsTomorrow

Did you know? GMC employs social media specialists to monitor criticisms and shape their strategy. The extent of this is outrageously far-reaching. Thanks to Mike for uncovering this through FOI. If I’ve tagged you, the GMC has been tracking you. Congratulations?

I think the events of today can’t be underestimated. The GMC is an organisation designed to protect the public by regulating doctors, upholding medical standards and preventing non doctors from practicing medicine. It has just accepted thousands of non doctors into itself

I believe the Royal College of Anaesthetists is to be congratulated in navigating the treacherous path of defining scope of practice for Anaesthesia Associates This involved -huge surveys of opinion -supporting #Nap7 in analysing practice in real life -a Cochrane review -extensive professional

We have published a report compiling the shocking testimonies of doctors who have witnessed unsafe practice by PAs and AAs. Patients are being let down by the repeated failures of NHS leaders to keep them safe. Read the full report here: bma.org.uk/media/p13leadh…
