Thinking of all my GP colleagues from minority ethnic or international backgrounds delivering much needed care in all communities against the backdrop of this appalling violence criminality and racism I pray you stay safe. Remember our society really values you RCGPNI

GPs receive on average just less than 50p per patient per day to provide a free at the point of access service in NI and every single patient calling their practice for an appointment can feel that squeeze on our budget! The time for action to #saveGP is now!

Thank you to Alex Easton MP for highlighting the state of general practice in Northern Ireland in the House of Commons. GPs want what patients want. He posed the question if there was anywhere else that spent a lower proportion of its health budget on general practice than NI.

Thanks for the invitation to speak General Practice Training NI such an engaged group of GP registrars. Switched on to the challenges and opportunities and aware they are the future of general practice! We must value them all and hope they stay in GP and in NI! RCGPNI Emma Murtagh

Without a properly resourced and politically supported GP service, reset is a pipedream. GPs are the beating heart of community healthcare, trusted advisors, educators, tireless advocates for patients England-GPs-9.5% of health budget NI-5.4% of health budget See the problem?

We had 350 neighbourhood hubs in 2014 now it’s just 305! GPs at the heart of communities provide continuity and cradle to grave care. Let’s not throw baby out with the bath water or reinvent the wheel. The most cost effective part of our NHS needs more investment to deliver more!

#GeneralPractice #NHS As we embrace reforms, vital to safeguard & strengthen aspects of General Practice that work well. Importantly, same size won’t fit all. Neighbourhoods models need to have general practice at the core given it already cares for 1.4m patients a day.

This is really good from Brian O'Neill . We are now directing all complaints to local MLAs to pass on to Health Minister. The answer is proper staff and resource, not crucify the workforce

The conundrum of safe working limits vs relentless demand; escalating workload vs fewer GPs. Working ā€œsafelyā€ means about 15 patients per GP per day not being seen! The answer = Invest in more GPs + look after the ones we’ve got so we can look after patients when they need us

A spokesperson for the British Medical Association said the Department of Health had been asked for an additional Ā£39 per patient to address current pressures - but it allocated less than 50p per patient. āž”ļøbelfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/health/gp… belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/health/gp…
