#FunFactFriday Colin Powell wanted to honor the Buffalo Soldiers at Fort Leavenworth. Powell commissioned Eddie Dixon, Army veteran, to create a 17-foot-tall sculpture of a mounted buffalo soldier on native limestone base. In 1992, Powell unveiled the sculpture Fort Leavenworth.
