Yesterday, FMC was thrilled to partner with Japan Embassy DC🌸 for a reception for Republican District Directors during their annual fly in, with remarks from DCM Shimada Takehiro & FMC Board Member Larry Bucshon, MD. Thank you to the Embassy for hosting, & to all the DD’s who joined us!

Good evening from Japan! FMC is proud to bring a delegation of District & State Directors to Tokyo to learn more about the most pressing issues facing Japan today & the US – Japan alliance. Thank you to Martin Fackler, Gearoid Reidy リーディー・ガロウド, & Noah Sneider for being a great start to our trip!

Our delegation met with LDP Members 松川るい =自民党= and 牧島かれん while in Tokyo to learn more about Japan’s security initiatives and how Diet Members engage with their constituents. We’re grateful for the opportunity to exchange perspectives with such impactful legislators!

Our District Directors were pleased to join Claire Chino, ITOCHU; Tokuko Shironitta, The Asia Group; and Mina Takazawa, Microsoft Japan, for a breakfast roundtable on the shifting workforce priorities in Japan and changes to work-life balance. We're thankful for their insights!

FMC was thrilled to bring our District Directors to Keio University to speak with students studying U.S. politics and answer their questions about political parties, the US-Japan relationship, and how our DD’s got involved in politics. We loved engaging with such bright students!

Our District Directors had the opportunity to tour NEC’s Creation Lab facilities while in Tokyo and learn more about the company’s advancements in facial recognition, AI, and cybersecurity advancements. They had a wonderful time hearing about these innovations!

FMC would like to congratulate Former Member and Congressional Study Group on Japan Co-Chair Billy Long Billy Long on his confirmation to lead the IRS! FMC recognizes the dedication and leadership of all Former Members who continue their public service beyond the halls of Congress.

FMC is saddened to share the loss of Former Member Lucien Nedzi (D-MI, 1961-1981). A WWII veteran and lawyer, Nedzi was best known for his passionate advocacy for civil rights and global peace. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this time.

While in Tokyo, our delegation of District Directors were proud to be able to meet with 鈴木ようすけ【立憲民主党 衆議院議員・東京10区（豊島区・文京区）】 and learn more about the CDP’s priorities as the largest opposition party in the Japanese Diet. We’re grateful for the deeper look into Japanese politics!

Our District Directors in Japan were honored to sit down with Japanese Diet Members 衆議院議員 杉本和巳【公式】 and The Hon. Koichiro Ichimura to discuss key security concerns for the region and the primary issues the Japan Innovation Party aims to address. Thankful for the conversation!

FMC is sorry to learn of the loss of Former Member Blake Farenthold (R-TX, 2011-2018). Farenthold was known for his love for his home state, and fought tirelessly for infrastructure funding that would help his community. Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

While in Tokyo, our delegation had the opportunity to speak with Diet Members 新妻ひでき, 河西宏一（かさい こういち）【比例東京ブロック選出】, and 西園勝秀 to learn more about Japan’s Komeito Party and their role as a coalition partner in the current government. We’re grateful for their time & insight!

FMC was honored to be able to bring our delegation of District Directors to CFAY,　米海軍横須賀基地. Our group toured the USS Dewey and spoke with base leadership about life on the base and the biggest security concerns for the region. Thank you to our hosts for their service & insight!

Our most recent Study Tour to Tokyo was a huge success, and we’re so grateful to all the DD’s who participated. A special thank you to our friends at JUSFC for helping to make this visit possible! We look forward to organizing more delegations like this one in the future.

FMC mourns the loss of Former Member Pat Williams (D-MT, 1979-1997). Williams was Montana’s longest serving Congressman, and is remembered for his dedication to uplifting the working poor and protecting public lands. Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this time.

FMC is saddened by the passing of Former Member Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY, 1997-2015). McCarthy was best known for her advocacy for gun-control, and showed a strong determination to fight for her constituency. Our thoughts are with her loved ones during this time.
