We are exploring the effects of anxiety on balance in simulated environments such as trains, developing a protocol to be applied to patient groups such as older people concerned about falling, people with Parkinson's Parkinson's UK and people with multiple sclerosis

Well done to #PhD student Nimmy Abraham, an Engineering category finalist in STEM for Britain. She was at the House of Commons yesterday to present a poster of her abstract about using VSimulators University of Exeter to explore the dynamics of rhythmic jumping subjected to vertical vibrations

#PhD opportunity to join a world-leading falls prevention research team on prestigious STEPPING OUT project led by Sallie Lamb & work with experimental psychologists, biomechanists, physiotherapists and mathematicians at #ExeterBRC >Details & apply: exeter.ac.uk/study/funding/…

CFCM's Experimental Officer Joe attended the Powerboat 2 Training Course at SeaSports South West. This training will support our projects around alternatively powered boats. Alongside Joe, this course was also attended by James Bassitt from VSimulators and Kirsty Frith in Centre for Resilience in Environment Water & Waste.

We have 2 PhD studentships to work on an ERC funded project led by Sallie Lamb We will simulate situations where older adults often fall VSimulators 1 PhD will focus on biomechanics & the other on the influence of sensory integration & cognition on balance/gait. DL=2nd April

For #ParkinsonsAwarenessWeek we're honouring the work of Exeter Med School and UofE SHS researchers, who are using VSimulators to trial the @Gait_Q wearable device that will help improve mobility in patients with #ParkinsonsDisease. Read more below 👇 sites.exeter.ac.uk/vsimulators/20…

Our Senior Experimental Officer James and Experimental Officer Garry were at NIRx Medical Tech. in Berlin, learning how to use wearable device NIRSport 2, which uses Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy for brain imaging. This will be used for research at our University of Exeter facility

University of Exeter, in partnership with the Royal Devon NHS, have been successful in our bid for £3m of government funding to form the HealthTech Research Centre for Sustainable Innovation based in Exeter. More on the news here - news.exeter.ac.uk/faculty-of-hea…

Also worth celebrating the news that Yuri Russo has just secured another Research Fellow position here at NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to continue his work on ageing, Parkinson's and falls for another 4 years! European Research Council (ERC) Sallie Lamb

Thank you to #salcombeembroiderers for our fabulous new T-shirts, which incorporate the new University of Exeter branding.

We're pleased to announce a cutting-edge project with Research Fellow Sonia from the NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). Mind the Gap will see how people respond to challenging situations by studying postural responses in immersive environments. Learn more about the project at: lnkd.in/e8V_WBdr

We're delighted to be collaborating with University of Warwick on a brand new engineering-related project. Data collection is underway for Pedestrian evaluation of structural vibration (aka SENSATION), which is funded by the Horizon Europe 🇪🇺 MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship - UK Guarantee scheme
