I noted a post elsewhere about GPs not seeing people/do things quickly enough. Here’s why: - Post-op patients without sick note/adequate analgesia/complications: ‘call your GP’. - People not qualified to prescribe deciding someone needs meds - ‘GP to….’ - People without rights

Congratulations to Wes Streeting. We have written today offering to work with you to get the NHS back on its feet. Here are some of the most pressing issues NHS staff and our patients need you to tackle in the coming months. THREAD (1/7) x.com/10DowningStree…

🚨 Is Your Local Surgery Struggling? 🚨 😟 Noticed how hard it is to book an appointment lately? And when you do, it might not be with your regular GP. Lost that familiar family doctor feeling? You’re not alone. ⚠️ General Practice is on the brink! Every practice across England

For all my GP partner colleagues who are BMA members in England….. if you haven’t done so already please vote as per below. We need a very strong turnout to send a message to govt that Gen Practice is broken. Your vote counts. We need investment ++ and a new contract. General Practice

By my crude maths that works out that the typical GP surgery is doing around £260,000 a year in unfunded work. And some say they want to end the Partnership model. That we are lazy. That we are inefficient. Thats the equiv of 3 full time GPs in every surgery. Wes Streeting

At the current average duration of sessions, six GP sessions per week aligns with the NHS definition of full-time hours. bjgp.org/content/early/…

Every day, my practice receives a stream of requests from local urgent care centres. These were set up to relieve pressure on general practices but because they can’t provide a holistic service, they generate more work for GPs and their teams. Invest in core GP services instead.

4 times this week I've had to go into reception to intercede with aggressive, threatening and abusive patients. More than ever before. We're now considering how we deliver care in order that our staff are safe. Take your aggression and anger elsewhere. #zerotolerance

Thanks v much ⁦Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB⁩ for this gut punch to GPs in Lancashire/S Cumbria.I’ve had GPs contact me thinking they just don’t matter & considering throwing the towel in when the ICB just tosses you aside. Thoughts ⁦NHS England⁩ ⁦Wes Streeting⁩ ⁦PulseToday⁩ ?

Today we launch GPCE's vision 'Patient First', which details the essential changes Government needs to make to save general practice in England and benefit our patients and long-term public health. bma.org.uk/GPvision 11p a day more per patient is just one of the changes👇

If you read one document today make it this ⬇️. Simple and clear what is needed and why government needs to listen to the stark warning calls from general practice. Patients need to see this. General Practice Lincolnshire LMC bma.org.uk/gpvision?utm_c…

Hey, residents? Registrars? This isn't part of your job. There's no contractual requirement, or indeed professional requirement, to supervise non-doctors. Not in your work schedule? Not your job.

Mike Nesbitt Are you paying attention? “Increased access” doesn’t work unless there is capacity to offer more appointments, which, with the same funding and the same number of staff, working the same hours from the same rooms, is an impossible ask.
