Yesterday I learned there’s a local high school that’s been w/out a chemistry teacher for months. Subs cover the class & students receive packets to complete from the other chemistry teacher in the building & are told to watch YouTube videos if they need help. We have a problem.

It was fun to watch some of the Creighton Men’s Basketball game and show students so many Grand Island people. From dance team, to player to referee! #rdj

The problem with education isn’t what we teach—it’s what we ignore just because it isn’t on a standardized test: creativity, leadership, critical thinking, resilience, problem-solving, communication—everything that actually helps students succeed in life.

There is no getting around the fact that teachers in very high poverty schools work soooo much harder. Completely different game!

If you’ve been a teacher since the 00s or before, you think about this often. What happened? It gets worse every year and we never ask the testing giants why.
