Intermittent scattered rain showers are expected this evening and overnight. Some of it will be capable of thunder, mainly along the international border. With a temperature inversion overhead, long and deep rumbles will be possible.

A long-duration rain event will begin tonight and continue through Saturday.. Widespread rain totals of 1-2" are likely with pockets of 3 " possible across southern Vermont. A Flood Watch has been issued for Bennington and Windham Counties from late tonight through Saturday AM.

Rain has begun to overspread the region this morning with rain likely to linger well into Saturday for many locations. A flood watch remains in effect for portions of central and southern Vermont into Saturday with the main focus on poor drainage, urban, and nuisance flooding.

Cold and unsettled weather will continue today and through the weekend. Some snow showers are also possible along the highest peaks in the region.
