Using @ALSWH_offical, #physicalactivity was associated with⬇️injurious falls in older women. Physical function limitation and frailty modified the association between PA and injurious falls doi.org/10.1093/ageing… Prof Cathie Sherrington Julie Byles Xenia Dolja-Gore Dr Saman Khalatbari-Soltani & many others

@venisakwok’s Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health analysis showed protective effect of #physicalactivity for #falls. We wondered if more physical activity would increase falls due to exposure. No sign of this overall but some indication of increase if less mobile. Need for tailored interventions!

Participation in leisure-time physical activity as recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) (150-300 mins/week) or above (>300 mins/week) is associated with reduced falls with and without injuries. Widespread physical activity promotion is needed. ja.ma/49euzJs

Great to see our new work on exercise to prevent falls in #agedcare in print! It feels more real now, a week after submitting my thesis. I enjoy our hybrid thesis submission, and I would not have done this without the support of dedicated supervisors Prof Cathie Sherrington Dr Saman Khalatbari-Soltani Xenia Dolja-Gore Julie Byles Juliana S Oliveira Marina Pinheiro and CRE Prevention of Falls Injuries (NHMRC Funded)

An interesting presentation by Professor Afroditi Stathi about the REACT trial at #ISPAH2024 ! A cost-effective one-year community-based active ageing interventions can help older adults keep their physical function for two years. #healthyageing

One of my favorite work using data from Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health. The study stresses the importance of staying physically active from middle-age onwards, aiming for at least 150 minutes/week of activity, for fall prevention.
