Celebrated at the Ides of February, or February 15, Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

Lupercalia survived the initial rise of Christianity but was outlawed—as it was deemed ā€œun-Christianā€ā€”at the end of the 5th century, when Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine’s Day.

icymi over on Instagram, I’m trying to have some time off. If you fancy (or know someone who wants to) taking over my kitchen for May, get in touch! We’ll do drinks, you do food and you can see what it’s like in the high street without commitment!

I've just seen that Kings Heath High Street is closed by ASDA due to a traffic accident. We will have to wait for confirmation from the police, but I'm really worried dangerous driving is getting worse and putting more children in danger as they walk to school.
