Incredibly fun and rewarding day leading my second piano ensemble workshop with young pianists in Dundee! For many of these students this was their first experience of chamber music. Huge thanks to Dundee City Council and Dundee Chamber Music for their organisation of this special day 🎶🎹

Well done to the talented Rossall School International Piano Academy students who all performed brilliantly this afternoon at St George’s Church in Preston. What a great opportunity for them play in this magnificent venue to such a warm, supportive and large audience. 🎹

Great to welcome back my former Royal Northern College of Music teacher Professor Graham Scott to Rossall School this morning to work with four of our Piano Academy students! Thank you for an inspiring and insightful class 🎹

Fantastic concert at Manchester Cathedral from Slaithwaite Phil and St Georges Singers playing three works I had never heard live before: Poulenc Gloria, Scriabin Poem of Ectasy and Janacek Glagolitic Mass. Such wonderful and colourful music.

Looking forward to being back in wonderful Elmore Chamber Music Festival this week to play Franck Sonata with the fantastic Toby Hughes as well as Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque No.1 and Bottesini,s Grand Duo Concertante. Join us if you’re nearby!

So good to play with violinist Rosa Hartley who I met in IMS Prussia Cove in 2022. Bach then we sight-read through quintets by Franck and Fauré late into nights! No sight reading this time but looking forward to playing some Rachmaninoff and Bottesini together tomorrow evening

Great to be back in my beautiful room (now with a harpshichord!) to meet my new students and catch up with returning students. Lots to look forward to in the Rossall School Piano Academy this year 🎹

Busy couple of weeks ahead but so looking forward to hearing my student Anton perform Grieg PC with Lyric Chamber Orchestra on 14th September in Dartmouth. What an exciting piece to play as your first concerto! Many thanks to pianist Matt Lam for his help with the final run through.

Just finished Day 1 of my first CD recording! What an incredible opportunity to be able to record in this very special Royal Northern College of Music concert hall on the fantastic Steinway & Sons piano.

Happy to have been able to dash to Martin Harris Centre today between recording sessions to hear my first MMus Performance at The University of Manchester students give their final performances! Good luck to both students who now go back to their home country to share their knowledge with young people.

And it’s done! Enlightened and exhausted after a week of recording over 80 minutes of music by Charles Villiers Stanford for what will be my first CD recording, released by Naxos Records Huge thanks to Mike Purton and the Royal Northern College of Music team their support. To be released in 2025!

Thrilling Grieg Piano Concerto by 16-year-old Anton and Lyric Chamber Orchestra last night in Dartmouth. As his teacher for the last year, I couldn’t be more proud of his achievement. 🎹
