Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony already announced Budapest Pride would go ahead, according to plan. Also, a municipal event requires no permit from authorities.

⚡️🌈Viktor Orbán’s justice minister tried to scare Western embassies from joining Saturday’s Budapest Pride, falsely claiming it’s a banned and illegal event. Organizers clarified it’s not. The minister’s letter I obtained was first reported by Viktória Serdült for hvg.hu. 🏳️‍🌈🇭🇺

I call on the Hungarian authorities to allow the Budapest Pride to go ahead. Without fear of any criminal or administrative sanctions against the organisers or participants. To the LGBTIQ+ community in Hungary and beyond: I will always be your ally.
