A bosonic code is proposed that makes use of both two-photon loss and Kerr nonlinearity, allowing for efficient operation and resistance to random frequency shifts. Vincenzo Savona, EPFL Center for Quantum Science & Engineering, EPFL go.aps.org/3oWbSbJ

The new work by IBM Research Quantum is an important milestone in the field. nature.com/articles/s4158… I especially like the shift from generating "supremely" useless random numbers to the task of simulating something of "utility" for physics. But..... (1/6)

How can one accurately simulate the dynamics of bosonic systems with large occupation numbers? With Vincenzo Savona and F. Minganti EPFL Center for Quantum Science & Engineering, we use a variational approach and a basis of photon-added coherent states to simulate eg. large cat qubits 🐈 arxiv.org/abs/2306.13708
