When you send spit "off for DNA testing, you are handing over unique data that cannot be anonymised. You are also sharing information about all your biological family" Companies should only accept samples with OK from all family members down to cousins. ft.com/content/206faf…

Congratulations to kerrie Davies MBE and Ruth Thomsen who both received an MBE in the New Year Honours list. It's great to see these colleagues honoured for their service and achievements in healthcare science.

Every week, I see a new study talking about this or that effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists like #ozempic. FINALLY, we have a study evaluating all the outcomes (good and bad) in one dataset. There are some... surprises. 🧵

Can someone in the UK government (DSIT?) please put out the welcome mat for US scientists, especially those in public health, vaccines and mRNA research. Trump might not want them. We absolutely do.

At 5pm on 24th January 2024, my darling husband Tim Joss was killed in an accident. He still had so much to give the world. A truly good man, visionary, inspirational and loved by so many. We had 18 yrs of blissful love. Those yrs are what comforts me now

My good friend and colleague of many years Tim Radford has died. Besides being a splendid human being, he was the science journalist by which we should all measure ourselves. A polymath, who knew everyone in science & wrote fab copy. RIP.
