One bird makes it through the 1990s to the present like living, connective tissue- the Grey hornbill. A living reminder that cities carry generational histories—the tapestries of contiguous forest that have now become single threads. Remembering kaans grass, sparrows, vultures.

Time to update Kallaana Wikipedia 😀- the pygmy elephant (as described by the Kaani community) in Peppara en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kallana Super cool, & would never have guessed this outcome across the Shencottah Gap - where birds dont fly & Elephants do not cross! Congrats team!

This is very cool, and provides some understanding of rictal bristles - one of those ornithology terms prone to disastrous auto-correct errors ;) I see that the authors took no chances on this one :)

There are very few opportunities for Masters students looking to work on birds in India. This is a great opportunity for any interested in integrating physiology, ecology with bird behaviour research

Interesting that FAA is using science to examine 'safe' cabin temperatures, and 90F/32C is considered high. In India, small ATRs operating in the summers (no AC until after takeoff), with ambient temp reaching 45C, I wonder what might be appropriate? DGCA AirSewa

Hoping to popularise #bioacoustics research in India, participated in this exciting podcast. Also learnt that it is tough to simplify topics and speak clearly while using very few words 😀! In awe of Dr Eleanor Slade @eleslade.bsky.social and Urvashi Aneja for their clarity! Do tune in!

Last-leg of data 🤞 - (1) said goodbye to our trusty steed who saw us though 2.5 years of fieldwork; (2) if anyone caught us on their camera trap walking through the Sholas - hi to those sifting through the photos; (3) ending with an (almost😄-)all-girl-field team! 💪💪
