Here at the. ASLO Aquatic Sciences meeting 2023 in Palma , Mallorca all week. Delighted to have presented our QUEST project #ASLO2023 Marine Institute Mark Coughlan @markus_diesing DCU School of Chemical Sciences EPA Ireland iCRAG Centre UCD Earth Sciences

A few years ago, Mohit Tunwal and I shared an office UCC Ireland Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences, UCC where we brainstormed daily. It was possibly the most fun I had as a post doc! Today one of those ideas, purely a pet project, was published online. It’s #OpenAccess and we’ve made all the code available too!

📢Job Alert 📢 Just bringing this back up your timelines! Post-doc in Palaeoclimatology available Oxford Earth Sciences Details: tinyurl.com/2p8xk4r9 Deadline: midday (UTC+1) 20th September 2023 Please RT! Research Jobs in Earth/Environmental Sciences Earthworks-Jobs.com #Geoscience #academicjobs #Geology

Researchers’ Night #ResearchersNight by Geological Survey Ireland @Dept_ECC will take place in UCC Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences, UCC on Thursday, 28 September, 6:30 to 9pm. Talks by Jean O'Dwyer, Hannah Binner, and Dr Chris Mays. For more details and free registration, see gsi.ie/en-ie/events-a…

Exciting news! My research group, the Earth and Ocean lab, has launched a new website! Based between @NewGeographyUCC and Sustainability Institute UCC Ireland, the website will include all the active research taking place within our group. ucc.ie/en/earthocean/

Big PhD day for UCD Earth Sciences's Phoebe Walsh (aka Phoebe Fridgers) who's been out on the #RVCelticExplorer collecting samples to look at compaction effects of different coring techniques on #bluecarbon reporting. Part of our Marine Institute & EPA Ireland funded QUEST Project

From ship to shore to store 👍 Sun sets on the QUEST survey but what a time on #RVCelticExplorer Huge amount to work on for Anthony Grey, Phoebe Walsh & Rasmus Svendsen + collaborators Zoe Roseby, Dr Billy Haunter @biogeochembilly.bsky.social,UCD Blue Carbon Lab et al. Thanks to Marine Institute & EPA Ireland 🙌

**We're hiring** Interested in shipwrecks, seabed mapping and CFD modelling? We're looking to hire a Post-Doctoral researcher to work on the I-POINT project (ucc.ie/en/earthocean/…) It's a 4-year post based at @NewGeographyUCC Sustainability Institute UCC Ireland UCC Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences University College Dublin

In October, Chief Scientist Mark Coughlan, along with researchers from UCD, DCU, AFBI, UCC and Uni of Exeter, were out onboard the RV Celtic Explorer gathering geophysical data and samples with which to quantify carbon stocks in Irish marine sediments as part of the QUEST Project 🌍

QUEST and SCALE team members from UCD Civil Engineering, UCD Earth Sciences & Dublin City University about to embark on an escape rooms. If they get out, everyone gets a pay raise. If they fail to get out in time, everyone gets the sack. #teambuilding 😜 Will report back on their progress!

Deadline for our 4-year Marine Institute funded #PostDoc Fellowship 'I-POINT' is extended to Feb 2, 2024👇 earthworks-jobs.com/marine/ucc23121 🌊 Join the team of Aaron Lim, Jennifer Keenahan & myself in mapping & modeling #shipwreck instability & pollution potential in #Irish waters ⚓️

Busy week UCD Earth Sciences lab as part of QUEST Project 🥼 We'd Ciara Dublin City University down to scan & sample cores we gathered this year for grain-size & chemical composition We're asking interesting questions like "what's the role of clay in blue carbon potential of marine sediments?" 🤔
