If I hit game-like levels of intensity and tissue load in preparation for a season, I'll likely be ready even if the volumes are below game levels. If I achieve the volumes without hitting the intensity and tissue load, nothing good happens.

Athletic departments prioritizing speed and athleticism (sprint, lift, jump, bounce) on a foundation of rest, recovery, and sleep will pay off in all sports. #FTC

The fact that we are raising a generation of kids to believe they should be competing in sport more than they should be physically preparing for them is a microcosm of our world. It’s ignorance. “Why are gen Z kids like tha..” Do you seriously wonder why? Because of adults.

"Speed is global." 🌍 Tony Holler Even if sport doesn’t involve sprinting, raising CNS floor raises the athletic ceiling. Golfers. Swimmers. All gotten better through sprinting. One of Kula Sports Performance's swim groups set 48 club records in a year after starting speed training🤫

If you want to avoid injury, don’t play sports. Injuries are part of the game, especially the longer you play and the higher the level you reach. As coaches of physical preparation, our job is to control what we can control. That includes strength, conditioning, mobility, etc.

Training at high intensities on a regular basis becomes more sustainable when athletes are also resting and recovering on a regular basis. If we can't at least commit to that, we've got to reprioritize where we are spending time each week.
