i grew up swimming in pools and oceans approximately 2/3s of the days of the year on peak years so i definitely considered myself a strong swimmer…until recently. getting back into swimming has humbled me as i’ve had to go fully back to the basics of breath and body positioning

given that the sun is the most obvious and sustainable source for civilization energy needs, it seems like the ultimate filter is whether you can get to harvesting the sun's energy optimally your local sun doesn't have enough juice left to propel your society to other suns

48 vo2 max but i should have put 30 extra seconds on the treadmill to get up to speed—just missed the cut off for 50 and i had more to give for sure will aim for 55 VO2 max next time i measure
