Actually the main difference between the photo on the left and today is the guy in yellow shirt would have an Odessa soft-top. I'm feeling the guy in the back has a fun little 5'10/32L twin fin. The woman with the headband?6'10/45L quad fin funboard.

What happened when the U.S. sent 400,000 Mexican workers back to Mexico in the 1930s? The employment rate of native workers went down noticeably as a direct result. (Yes, you read that correctly.)

A guy working construction in Wisconsin spent years--strictly for vibes--getting venomous snakes shipped to him so he could have them bite him. Now his blood is being tested to create a universal antivenom that could save millions of lives. Unbelievable amounts of dude rocking

Tbh I wish it were actually true that liberals didn't "read history" or "obsess over stats" because then me and all the people I hang out with would be much, MUCH less annoying. 95% of my conversations are about identification or some Reconstruction-era policy failure.

I am very pro E-bike with pedal assist, as it encourages more folks to ride instead of drive. This is a motorcycle that can go 33mph (>50km/h). It absolutely does NOT belong in the bike lane. It is a huge hazard to other riders and makes biking less attractive!

Bibi intentionally changes the quote; the actual verse is ā€œrise and kill first,ā€ which is also the name of the great book by Ronen Bergman on the history of targeted Israeli assassinations (which discusses how Israel wanted to do this exact attack as far back as the Bush Admin).

If they hit Kharg Island, then this is REALLY going to cause gas prices to increase. This is taking 1-1.5% of daily crude supply offline, which would increase oil prices between $10-15$/bbl, and gas prices by 25-40c/gallon. Probably more because of risk premiums, too.

It is very, very difficult to imagine any kind of nuclear diplomacy taking place in the wake of this attack. If anything, Iranian leaders may now determine--with finality--that diplomacy with the US over the nuclear program is a waste of time.

If you and your spouse collectively make $40,000, Republicans have great news for you: You will be sending ~$2,500 of your income every year directly to the owner of your company. Congrats! Republicans are truly the Party of the Working Classā„¢ļø now.

Man, there really are *a lot* of ships around the Hormuz Straight right now. (Although all of the Israeli attacks so far have been pretty far away from this).

I’m at the No Kings protest in SF and there's more American flags here than a NASCAR rally. Safe to say there can’t be any confusion about this being nothing short of a vivid display of patriotism.

Hey David Plouffe as Coinbase’s newest senior advisor, was it your recommendation or someone else’s to sponsor Trump’s military parade? Inquiring minds would like to know :)!

On the one hand, Republicans tax bill adds $15 *trillion* to the deficit over 30yrs. OTOH, it takes away health insurance and food from the poorest Americans to give tax cuts to the richest Americans while still being incredibly fiscally profligate. Hard to say if good or bad.

As always, the EIA has a nice graphic in Today In Energy, showing roughly 20% of all crude moves through the Strait of Hormuz. Shutting it off (widely, and correctly, seen as a very unlikely event), would cause oil prices to go vertical.
