SUPERMAN: James Gunn does right by the character and delivers a well-balanced blend of humor + heart. I was laughing as much as I was inspired and moved. David Corenswet inhibits the character and is countered perfectly by a snarly Nicholas Hoult. Can't wait to see it again

Walking around Manchester listening to The Stone Roses. Life can be pretty alright sometimes.

6055 days. That’s how long it’s been since I saw Oasis play. I was on winter break from college and caught them at MSG, somehow managing to buy a beer at 18. Good times. To see them play again, this to their hometown crowd in Manchester was out of this world.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS wastes no time thrusting us right into the story and never looks back.  The retro futurism makes it feel distinct and immerses you into this JETSONS like world. It feels like own thing a success considering the homogenous nature of the genre.

EDDINGTON: I get the commentary but didn’t glean much from this that felt substantial. What is it really saying or adding to the convo!? It being 2 1/2 hours is simply inexplicable. Ari Aster really peaked with his first film, didn’t he?

Best part of being away for 2 weeks was ignoring this disgrace of a heartless team that is the Yankees. What an absolutely embarrassment they are. Gutless rudderless ship.

SORRY, BABY: Eva Victor has arrived. What a statement with their fully realized and poignant directorial debut. Rooted and grounded with tremendous restraint and an honest perspective. Deeply moving just as much as it is hilarious, often brilliantly dark. One of the years best

SHE RIDES SHOTGUN: What a pleasant surprise this was. Thrilling, stylish and surprisingly tender thanks to the relationship between Taron Egerton and Ana Sophia Heger. The latter is one of the great child performances since maybe BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD.

WHAT IF is one of the best rom coms of recent memory and seemingly no one has seen it. Never gets old.

The people I met along the way of my excursion to Manchester, Glasgow/Edinburgh. Was not sure what to expect going solo, but ended up literally never alone. Life affirming and gratifying, take me back. All 📷 on disposable film minus the last one, when I sadly ran out!

WEAPONS: Lots of great tension and dread / scares. The intrigue of the plot is stronger than the ultimate reveal. The plot structure got in its way. Did approve of the dark comedy. Think I prefer BARBARIAN. Wonder what Jordan Peele would have done with this...

FREAKIER FRIDAY: It's too busy with the body swapping, even the actors seem to forget which character they're playing. You also can't help but shake that this was made for Disney+, it looks the part. But it's final act has enough heart to save it. Julia Butters gonna be a star.
