Medical education requires effective coaching & mentorship, something we pride ourselves with at our CCFP-EM program, where we have created an innovative mentorship system. Yes, mentors are effective coaches as well. Check out former PGME Chris Watling on this topic:

A pleasure to meet all the candidates applying to our CCFP-EM program, virtually of course. Despite all the challenges of COVID-19 we have had a successful turnout and have learned so much about all these folks and about Zoom of course.... Good luck to all the applicants !

We report a 💯 percent pass in our CCFP-EM program amongst our group that just graduated. We have had full pass for 2 years in a row. Congratulations to the entire cohort of the 2019-2020 class for their amazing performance 🎭

For the first time we conducted CARMs interviews on Zoom. It was very successful and no problems were encountered. It was also convenient for applicants to not travel or incur major expenses. This should be the new way. It took a pandemic to learn many obvious truths.

What a great whiteboard approach on a topic that is so important to have a process of working out...... This should be part of bedside and on shift teaching .... Topics like this are useful reminders .....

Great review of spinal cord injury by Dr Davey Morden and awesome job inviting a patient to recount their experience. Great to know the difference between neurogenic and spinal shock

A great intro to efficiency in the emergency department by Dr Jen He. Strategies to help us work better include reminders to self, reducing repetitive information gathering, managing and directing learners and situational awareness. Also making EMRs user friendly is useful.

As our residents near the end of their training, some practice pearls featured in our own western-ccfpem podcast with Fan Yang and Dr Maria Keller. Great advise for the end of residency and transition to practice in EM. anchor.fm/munsif-bhimani…
