The NTP storm survey team has found a long, narrow path of damage through the Fergus area, confirming that a tornado did indeed occur there last evening. A preliminary EF0 rating has been assigned. Full details coming. #ONstorm

An NTP investigation, including a ground/drone survey, has confirmed a late-season tornado in Fergus, ON on the evening of Nov 10. A narrow 6 km damage track of tree and light residential damage was found, and an EF0 rating assigned. Details: uwo.ca/ntp/blog/2024/… #ONstorm

Here's the latest tornado count graph for Canada. So far, 2024 has earliest start (March 16) and most tornado days (55) in the NTP era. Our end-of-season satellite imagery review has turned up a number of 2024 events that need to be added, so still more tornadoes to come!

At the end of each year, NTP staff undertake a systematic review of satellite imagery to find any forest damage that may have been missed. In 2024, it turned up 14 new tornadoes. Add in a couple of stragglers, and the 2024 count goes up to 129! Details: uwo.ca/ntp/blog/2025/…
