This is a great series of resources from Valuing Nature, especially ‘Valuing Arts & Arts-based Research’ for anyone interested in how and why to bring arts based research into wider research activities, co-authored by #wetlandlife’s @timacott1

New study finds economic benefits of protecting nature-rich sites such as #wetlands and woodlands outweigh the profit that could be made from using the land for resource extraction. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Postdoc in Economic valuation of biodiversity non-use values jobportal.ku.dk/videnskabelige… The overall aim for the postdoc is to develop improved approaches for obtaining theoretically valid and policy-relevant monetary estimates of non-use values of biodiversity

Good morning! Today we are joining with wetlandLIFE and several artists (@kerrymmorrison) to talk about how arts-based approaches can inform landscape decisions. This is part of UK Landscape Decisions and would not be possible without Eirini Saratsi the PI of AALERT and @timacott1

If humans and mosquitoes had a battle at the end of the world, who would win? Young kids at a science themed summer camp worked with Marvel Entertainment artist Bob Hall to develop a cool comic and come up with some catchy #publichealth slogans theconversation.com/i-have-city-ki… #scicomm

Important perspective on how authorities can better understand success of invasive mosquito eradication strategies and risks of reintroduction (or recovery?) 🦟

While I support the conservation of our local wildlife, integrating wetlands, wildlife, people, and (possibly) mosquitoes can be a recipe to increase risks of mosquito-borne disease such as Ross River virus. We need "mosquito aware urban design"! journals.plos.org/plospathogens/… 🦟

Extremely disappointed to see this from YouGov. In the midst of a biodiversity crisis, where numbers of many important and valuable invertebrate species are declining, such negative invertebrate propaganda is highly irresponsible and more reminiscent of the tabloid press.
