Beautiful morning on Holne Common surveying for Dartmoor's Dynamic Landscapes. Breeding Snipe in the mires, Wheatear amongst the boulders and Whinchat, Lesser Redpoll and Yellowhammer singing from the hawthorns. Great patch of habitat! #dartmoor

Nothing makes me happier than when a leafcutter bee decides she’s too cool for leaves, and builds her best using petals, instead 💚💗

A great week visiting Lundy Bird Observatory to help with some seabird monitoring. Finding a Melodious Warbler (lifer), ringing shearwaters underneath the Milky Way and seeing coastal moths was special. A cracking island and even better people, will definitely be back #obsenvy

Quality over quantity from last nights moth trap at Brook Wood VC3. A Dark Spectacle and Vapourer were both new for the site, with a Frosted Orange and decent numbers of Light Emerald also present. Loving the menacing stare from the 'white eyes' on the Vapourer #mothsmatter

Birding is a funny old game We go off to the most remote & wild places to find birds but sometimes, they come to us! This story from © Birding Croatia is a fine example, you should never let your guard down & always keep your eye open even in the most unpromising environments!

A beautiful Yellow-browed Warbler and Firecrest ringed at @E17Wetlands this month. Born on the forest slopes of the Ural Mountains in Russia, this warbler has flown over 2,000 miles, not bad for a bird that weighs less than 7g! @WildLondon #londonbirds

Our regular Southend Seafront ringers birdingtothemax.bsky.social (📸) and April Mayne were joined by Paul Roper for a whoosh net attempt on Saturday. To the best of our knowledge, they broke the 🚨 WORLD LONGEVITY RECORD 🚨 for Mediterranean Gull with this bird re-trapped! 🧵 1/3

On Thursday night I looked out of my boat & knew immediately that something was wrong on the River Roding. The moon was glimmering off the water in a strange way I hadn’t seen before. I went outside to discover an oil slick streaked across the river & the smell of engine oil in

Back again for its 8th Highland summer season, to exactly the same spot. Ringed in Devon 2018 and returns every winter to the Exe estuary ! A fascinating insight.
