Excited to share that our paper cell.com/molecular-cell… got the cover of the new issue of Molecular Cell. Extra cool that this is a photograph taken by the first author Nancy De La Cruz, a super-star research assistant and post-bacc who just started grad school UTSW Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

Goes straight to the top of the "to read" pile– MAYEX is an old long noncoding RNA recruited for X chromosome dosage compensation in a reptile | Science science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… (MAYEX seems to be syntenic with TUG1, a rather famous mammalian lncRNA, yet TUG1 isn't mentioned?)

Somehow feeling in old Twitter mood, so sharing some analysis results obtained just yesterday. Lately, we experimented a lot with synthetic condensation surfaces, X-motifs can condense on them below Csat. Surprise: above Csat, the surfaces link droplets into a "meta-network"!

Our paper was published in nature. We discovered a new aspect of the meiotic homolog pairing process named Rapid Homolog Juxtaposition (RHJ). During RHJ, homologous loci undergo spatial juxtaposition from far apart to very close together in a short time. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Excited to share a new preprint! (1)🔬The nucleolus is the most prominent nuclear condensate, with a fascinating multilayered liquid-like structure, and is the site of ribosome biogenesis. But how does this multiphase architecture form and function? biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

New paper in Science Advances: We've uncovered the nuclear speckle transcriptome, revealing gene groups with distinct speckle localization properties and that speckles boost splicing for localized transcripts. Thanks to all co-authors! Oded Regev science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
