This exciting paper shows AI design of materials, robotic synthesis. 10s of new compounds in 17 days. But did they? This paper has very serious problems in materials characterisation. In my view it should never have got near publication. Hold on tight let's take a look 😱

Remember the summer when we were all crazy about #LK99? Our paper that helped debunking it is now published in Physical Review B . check it out here: journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/1…

We have now completed our analysis of new materials reported in the Google Deepmind / Berkeley autonomous lab paper. My own initial analysis is in the quote tweet. Happy to have worked with Schoop Lab to jointly put together a comprehensive analysis, now available on ChemRxiv.

Check out Mulan's new paper describing how chemical exfoliation can be used to make 1D nanostructures of ionically bound materials. And they can maintain their magnetism during the process! Published in Nanoscale journal family pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

Check out Connor’s @ConnorPollak first paper in which we show that 1 D electronic properties can exist in a 3D crystal if the 1D motif is surrounded by an electrically inert scaffold. Nice collaboration with Maia G. Vergniory Ion Errea and Florian Pielnhofer

Today Grace defended her thesis and became the third Ph.D from the Schoop lab! We will miss her dearly but are also so proud of her! Congratulations Dr. Villalpando! 🎉🥳👏🎊

Here it is! 🙌 My last paper of my PhD! Here, we talk about 18-n+m isomerism, how it relates to the 18-n rule, and how chemical pressure effects drive the intergrowth structure of PdSn2! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Excited to share Joseph's Joseph Stiles final paper , where he looks into the mechanism behind the excellent performance of HxCrS2 in Na batteries. Now published in Chemistry of Materials. Also check out how remakably stable the crystalline/amorphous heterstructre is. pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.102…

The holidays came a little early for the Schoop Lab ! Just unboxed a new Ag source anode with accompanying graphite heater that can reach up to 950 C. Thanks to Michael at STOE for the install 🎁
