Thrilled to share our latest enzyme engineering in ACS Chemical Biology! We improved an enzyme involved in #polyketide starter unit biosynthesis and used it to generate polyketide acceptor substrates in vitro. Kudos to Jared and the team of authors! ACS Publications

🔬 At UC San Diego, scientists like Brad Moore–Distinguished Professor at Scripps Oceanography and UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy–are leading the charge to source and develop compounds from nature that are being used to develop the next generation of medicines. 🧵⬇️

Please share this letter from the Coalition for the Life Sciences re termination of ongoing NIH grants. It's a breach of trust betw researchers and govt, bad for trainees, potentially fatal for patients in clinical trials, and diminishes US science. coalitionforlifesciences.org/cls-calls-on-t…

Thrilled to learn that our polyketide review article is ranked within the top 10% of most-viewed papers published by ChemBioChem in 2023!

.@umncvm welcomed Dr. Sandra Loesgen (Sandra Loesgen (loesgenlab.bsky.social)) from Whitney Laboratory FLORIDA for a RIDE Seminar on discovering novel compounds from fungi and bacteria. Her global research explores how natural products can lead to therapies for cancer & neurological diseases. z.umn.edu/ad8f
